Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) is one of the original and largest independent, applied R&D organizations in the United States. It was founded in 1947 as a nonprofit corporation to provide contract research and development services to industrial and government clients. The Institute consists of 11 technical divisions that offer multidisciplinary, problem-solving services covering a broad spectrum of areas in the physical sciences and engineering.
